INCA JUNGLE MACHU PICCHU 4DAYS

This trip is one of the best adventure alternative treks in Cusco, that captures the majestic energy of Machu Picchu through ancient paths designed by the incas and that will make you feel full adrenaline. This tour lasts 4 days and includes adventure sports like biking, rafting (only available in dry season), zip line and trekking.

This itinerary describes the activities day by day as well as what is included.

DAY 1:  CUSCO – PISPITAYOC  (Biking and Rafting*)

The program starts when we pick you up at your hotel from 5:30 to 6:00 am. After which we´ll head towards the sacred valley of the Incas, along the way we will see picturesque villages and beautiful landscapes, arriving at Ollantaytambo, after a break we will continue with the trip by bus. After about an hour we will arrive at the Abra Malaga around 9 am. (4350 mt.), which is our point of departure with the bikes, we will descend for 3 hrs, passing through small villages, orchards, rivers and streams, reaching  the town Huamanmarca around approx. 12:00 pm. In Huamanmarca you will have your first lunch, a buffet lunch which consists out of a width variety of local ingredients. After a short break, we will begin a new adventure: the rafting trip will lasts around 2 hrs., encountering rapids class III and IV, always accompanied by a professional safety kayak that will take care of the group all the time. Travelers that didn’t book the rafting tour will hike with an assistant guide to Santa Maria and afterwards to Santa Rosa. From this point we will walk for approx 45 min. until reaching the eco lodge called “La Choza”. There you will have free time to explore the area on your own. At the end of the rafting adventure, the bus will be waiting for the rest of the group to take them to the town of Santa Rosa and they will walk for 45 min. until arriving at the ecological lodge La Choza, located in the village of Pispitayoc to spend the first night surrounded by vegetation and beautiful landscapes.

DAY 2:  PISPITAYOC (Ecolodge) – SANTA TERESA (Trekking)

After enjoying an outdoor breakfast, we will walk along the riverbanks and start climbing for 30 min. On our way we will see small coffee plantations, fruit trees, etc. In this area it is possible to see many types of plants, orchids  and birds,  we will be in the high forest and that is a paradise of biodiversity of the route. After arriving at the top of the mountain we will see the whole valley of Urubamba. The group will descendfor 2.30 hr. aprox. To arrive  at the village of Qellomayo, here the lunch will be served. After a break we will trek for 3 hrs. going through farms, rivers, waterfalls until arriving at the hot water springs of Santa Teresa. We will have a break and later the group will continue walking for 40 min. until reaching the town of Santa Teresa, where we will sleep at a familiar house. (Breakfast-lunch-dinner)

DAY 3:  SANTA TERESA – AGUAS CALIENTES  (Zip line and Hiking)

After a breakfast at 7 am. we will continue exploring the roads less traveled. We will start at the town of Santa Teresa. The passengers that reserved in advance will do the zipline (later they will be taken by bus to the hydroelectric),  the rest of the group will continue hiking for aprox. 3 hr. until reaching  the hydroelectric too, where the whole group will rejoin. Here we will have a great lunch. After a break, the journey will continue along the path for 3 hr., going through waterfalls, coca and coffee farms until arriving at the town of Aguas Calientes. The group will be taken to the hostel around 4 pm. At night we will all get together in a restaurant to have a great dinner and have a briefing about the trek to Machu Picchu.(Breakfast-lunch-dinner)

DAY 4:  AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO (Walking and visit to sanctuary)

The group will get up around 4 am. to go to Machu Picchu, following an ascending route through the high forest, we could have the chance to see the sunrise, after passing the control entrance around 6:00 am. the private guide will show us the sanctuary for 2 hrs. aprox. later the group will be free to enjoy Machu Picchu by its own. The passengers that reserved the hiking to Huayna Picchu will have their adventure for around 2.30  hrs. (including going up and down). The path is very steep at some points but it’s worth it. This trek is not recommended for people that suffer from dizziness. In the afternoon the group sill descend walking to Aguas Calientes, to rest or to buy souvenirs until the hour of departure (9.30 pm.) of the train towards Ollantaytambo. You have to be 30 min. before departure where our private bus will be waiting for all the travellers to be transferred to Cusco. We will arrive late at night, around 12.30 am.
